Terms and Conditions

HKIA Connects, operated by the Airport Authority, is available to you on the condition that you accept without modification the terms, conditions and notices contained herein. Please read these terms and conditions carefully before using the HKIA Connects. By making a reservation for the HKIA Connects, you agree that you have read these Terms and Conditions and that you accept and agree to be bound by them.

  1. Definitions

    The following defined terms have the following meanings within the terms and conditions:

    • 1.1
      "Air Passenger Departure Tax" or "APDT" means the tax levied on passengers intending to depart from Hong Kong by aircraft pursuant to the Air Passenger Departure Tax Ordinance, Cap 140, Laws of Hong Kong.
    • 1.2
      "Airline" means a carrier having operations at the Hong Kong International Airport.
    • 1.3
      "Airport" means the Hong Kong International Airport.
    • 1.4
      "Authority", "we", "our" or "us" means the Airport Authority, a body corporate validly existing by virtue of the Airport Authority Ordinance, Cap 483, Laws of Hong Kong.
    • 1.5
      "Counter" means the HKIA Connects Counter located at Transfer Desk E1 at Terminal 1 of the Airport.
    • 1.6
      "HKIA Connects" means the service(s) you select when placing a Reservation.
    • 1.7
      "Passenger Handling Agent" means a passenger handling agent appointed by the Selected Airlines.
    • 1.8
      "Reservation" means your submission of a request of HKIA Connects through this website.
    • 1.9
      "Selected Airlines" means carrier(s) which is covered by the HKIA Connects, currently includes HK Express only.
    • 1.10
      "Service Order" means your Reservation as accepted by the Authority, by which you will receive a confirmation via the email address you provided.
    • 1.11
      "STA" means the scheduled date and time of arrival of your originating flight to the Airport as stated on your air ticket when you make the Reservation.
    • 1.12
      "STD" means the scheduled date and time of departure of your onward flight from the Airport as stated in your air ticket when you make the Reservation.
    • 1.13
      "You" or "your" means the passenger whom we provide HKIA Connects to and who should pay for the HKIA Connects.
    • 1.14
      In respect of specific terms used but not defined here, please refer to the Terms of Use.
  2. About HKIA Connects
    • 2.1
      HKIA Connects is offered by the Authority to passengers who arrive at and depart from the Airport by different aircraft operated by 2 different Airlines on same calendar day.
    • 2.2
      The originating flight may be operated by any Airline but the onward flight would be operated by a Selected Airline.
    • 2.3
      HKIA Connects is aimed to enhance your travel experience. By purchasing the HKIA Connects, you will receive transfer desk service when you arrive at the Airport, so that you may enjoy a hassle-free time within the restricted area during your entire transit time at the Airport.
  3. Role of the Authority
    • 3.1
      Through this Website, the Authority merely facilitates the provision of HKIA Connects. Actual HKIA Connects will be provided by a Passenger Handling Agent.
    • 3.2
      When carrying out the HKIA Connects, the Passenger Handling Agent is required to comply with the guidelines and/or the relevant conditions of carriage imposed by the onward Selected Airline. As such, you may be required to pay extra charges if, for example, you are found to have overweight baggage (as determined by the onward Selected Airline) when the Passenger Handling Agent checks-in the onward flight for you.
    • 3.3
      Since the Authority is not a provider of the HKIA Connects, you are advised to raise any inquiries or disputes regarding the provision of HKIA Connects with the Passenger Handling Agent or the Selected Airline concerned.
  4. The Website
    • 4.1
      The website is an online booking platform operated by us to provide the HKIA Connects to you.
    • 4.2
      You should conduct the transaction for the HKIA Connects, including without limitation, submitting Reservations, requesting for cancellations of Service Orders or making any inquiries which you may have through this website.
  5. Making Reservation for HKIA Connects
    • 5.1
      If you intend to submit a Reservation, please do so at least 48 hours before the STD. We do not accept any walk-in reservations or any Reservations made in less than 48 hours before the STD.
    • 5.2
      All Reservations must be made through this website.
    • 5.3
      Please ensure all information provided in the Reservation is accurate. Any inaccuracy in the information submitted may result in the Reservation being rejected or may result in our inability to provide the HKIA Connects to you.
    • 5.4
      You are required to settle payment when making a Reservation. An acknowledgment email will be sent to you after successful submission of the Reservation and payment.
    • 5.5
      Upon receipt of your submission, we will review the Reservation details and respond to you within 24 hours. To allow us to assess whether we can provide the HKIA Connects to you, we may ask you to submit additional information.
    • 5.6
      If a Reservation is accepted, a Service Order confirmation will be sent to you by email. You will need to present the confirmation email to the Counter when arriving at the Airport.
  6. Refund of Air Passenger Departure Tax (APDT)
    • 6.1
      You would have paid the APDT when you purchased your air ticket departing from the Airport, and you are qualified for a refund of the APDT paid pursuant to the Air Passenger Departure Tax Ordinance, Cap 140, Laws of Hong Kong.
    • 6.2
      You may apply for a refund of the APDT separately and the whole process will be handled by Civil Aviation Department of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government.
  7. Provision of Service at Airport
    • 7.1
      The Counter is available from 240 minutes to 150 minutes before the scheduled departure time of your onward flight from Hong Kong.
    • 7.2
      When you arrive at the Airport, you will need to proceed to the Counter at least 150 minutes before (a) the STD of your onward flight, or (b) if the departure time of the onward flight has been revised, the revised estimated time, whichever is later. You are advised to check the Airport map and assess the time required to reach the Counter before making the Reservation.
    • 7.3
      When arriving at the Counter, you will need to present the following documents to the Passenger Handling Agent staff at the Counter:
      (a) confirmation email of the Service Order;
      (b) your travel documents, and if applicable, the travel documents of your companion passenger(s); and
      (c) if you have checked-in baggage on your originating flight, the baggage tag(s) issued by your originating flight airline in respect of the checked-in baggage.
  8. Payment of the HKIA Connects
    • 8.1
      We accept payment by credit cards including Visa and MasterCard. You may be assured that the Reservation is safe as most credit cards have their own separate protection services.
    • 8.2
      The credit card used for making a Reservation should be valid and under your own name.
    • 8.3
      We reserve the right to terminate any transaction we consider suspicious.
    • 8.4
      We shall not be liable for any payment or credit card fraud.
    • 8.5
      All prices are listed and charged in Hong Kong Dollars (HKD).
    • 8.6
      Full payment must be made when you submit the Reservation. If your payment cannot be processed successfully, the Reservation will not be acknowledged or processed further. In such case, you are advised to contact hkiaconnects@hkairport.com to resolve any problems concerning the use of your credit card in order to proceed with payment.
    • 8.7
      If your Reservation has been acknowledged but is rejected by us, you will be entitled to a refund by direct credit via the same payment channel you used for the Reservation. The Authority shall not be liable with respect to any loss, damage, cost or expense that you or any person may incur as a result of any delay in processing the refund.
    • 8.8
      The Authority reserves the right to change the payment terms for any order without prior notice.
    • 8.9
      The Authority reserves the right to change the payment mode for Reservation at any time by these Terms and Conditions.
  9. Amendments to the Service Order
    • 9.1
      Once a Service Order is confirmed, it cannot be amended. In the event that there is any change in your itinerary including any change in the passenger details which necessitates such amendment, you should apply for a cancellation of the original Service Order and submit a fresh Reservation.
    • 9.2
      You are advised to read our Refund Policy set out in Clause 11 to avoid unnecessary deduction of payment made.
  10. Cancellation of Service Order
    • 10.1
      You may request to cancel a Service Order through this website more than 24 hours before the STD. If your request is accepted, you are be entitled to a refund. Please refer to our Refund Policy set out in Clause 11.
    • 10.2
      If you request cancellation of a Service Order within 24 hours before the STD of the onward flight as listed in the Service Order, such request is regarded as late cancellation, which may or may not be accepted. In such case, you are advised to follow up your request by email to us and we may, at our absolute discretion, decide to refund a portion of the payment depending on the circumstances of your case.
    • 10.3
      We may cancel a Service Order if there is any reason beyond our control making fulfillment of the Service Order impossible. Such circumstances may include but are not limited to:
      (a) if you or your companion passenger(s) do not comply with these Terms or Conditions; or
      (b) if an error is encountered on this website in connection with a Service Order. If this happens, we undertake to correct the error and (if applicable) to charge you the correct price for payment of the HKIA Connects. We will notify you if this is the case.

      Refund of these cancellations is at the sole discretion of the Authority.
  11. Refund Policy
    • 11.1
      In cases where you request for cancellation of your Service Order, refund for the HKIA Connects is determined based on the submission time of cancellation request and the STD:
      (a) If your submission is made more than 24 hours before the STD, you will be entitled to a 100% refund;
      (b) If your submission is made 24 hours or less than 24 hours before the STD, you will not be entitled to a refund.
    • 11.2
      In any other case, refund of payment for the HKIA Connects and the amount of refund is subject to our absolute discretion depending on the circumstances of each case. If we consider you are, wholly or partly, responsible for the non-delivery of the HKIA Connects, we may decide not to refund or only to refund a portion of the payment to you.
    • 11.3
      In the event of dispute between you and us in respect of or in connection with refund of payment for HKIA Connects, our decision is final, conclusive and binding.
  12. Liability
    • 12.1
      Save and except for the handling and processing of your Reservation and Service Orders through this website, the Authority shall not be responsible whatsoever in relation to the provision of HKIA Connects.
    • 12.2
      Under any circumstances, the maximum liability of the Authority arising from the handling and processing of your Reservation and Service Order, or otherwise from the facilitation of the HKIA Connects, shall be capped at the amount of payment received in respect of the relevant Service Order.
    • 12.3
      Any losses incurred or sustained by you in transmitting payment information shall be borne solely and exclusively by you. Under no circumstances would the Authority shall be responsible for any such losses, whether in whole or in part.
    • 12.4
      If you are using a public computer, you shall ensure that you sign out of the website once you have finished browsing the website.
    • 12.5
      You hereby agree to indemnify the Authority for all claims or damages whatsoever made by any third party arising from submission of Reservations or cancellations of Service Orders on this website using your credit card.
  13. Indemnity
    • 13.1
      You hereby agree to indemnify and hold the Authority, its officers, employees, agents and contractors harmless against all damages, losses, costs (including legal costs), expenses and liabilities suffered or incurred arising out of or referable to any claims, suits or proceedings brought by third parties arising out of or in connection with your acts, failures, omissions and defaults, including but not limited to infringement of any intellectual property rights or other rights of third parties; unauthorized access and/or use of the website or any part thereof; and/or failing to act in accordance with these terms and conditions.
  14. Disclaimer
    • 14.1
      This website is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We make no warranties or representations of your ability to access the website, and do not warrant that the functions of the website shall be uninterrupted or error or defect free.
  15. Data Protection
    • 15.1
      When submitting a Reservation on the website, you agree that we can store, process and use the data you provide for handling your Reservation.
    • 15.2
      We are committed to safeguarding the privacy of all individuals with respect to their personal data. We therefore make sure that our policies and practices in relation to the collection, use, retention, transfer and access of personal data comply with the requirements of the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance (Chapter 486) under the laws of Hong Kong. Please refer to our Privacy Policy.
  16. General
    • 16.1
      In case of any dispute between the Parties in respect of or in connection with these Terms and Conditions, our determination shall be final and binding.
    • 16.2
      The rights and remedies provided in these Terms and Conditions are cumulative and not exclusive of any rights or remedies provided by law.
    • 16.3
      No waiver of any breach of these Terms and Conditions shall be effective unless made in writing by the Party granting such waiver.
    • 16.4
      No failure by us to enforce at any time or for any period any one or more of these Terms and Conditions shall be a waiver by us of the right at any time subsequently to enforce any or all of these Terms and Conditions.
    • 16.5
      You shall not assign or transfer your rights or obligations under these Terms and Conditions or any part, interest or share herein without our prior written consent.
    • 16.6
      If any provision of these Terms and Conditions is declared by any judicial or other competent authority to be void, voidable, illegal or otherwise unenforceable, the Parties shall amend that provision in such reasonable manner so as to achieve the intention of the Parties. Alternatively, at our discretion, it may be severed from these Terms and Conditions and the remaining provisions of these Terms and Conditions shall remain in full force and effect, unless we (at our discretion) decide that the effect of such declaration is to defeat the original intention of the Parties.
    • 16.7
      These Terms and Conditions shall be governed by the laws of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region ("Hong Kong") and both you and Authority agree to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Hong Kong courts.
    • 16.8
      We may revise these Terms and Conditions at any time without prior notice. If any dispute arises, our determination shall be final.
    • 16.9
      Where these Terms and Conditions are available in other languages, the English version is the governing version and shall prevail whenever there is a discrepancy among the versions.
